The first Saito Kinen Festival Matsumoto concerts held outside the city of its founding will be in Beijing and Shanghai. The SKO itself has performed twelve times abroad, but only in Europe and the United States, hence this will be its first appearance in China.
The program will include the pieces performed in this year's orchestra concerts, as well as Bartók's Bluebeard's Castle, Stravinsky's A Soldier's Tale, a chamber concert featuring pianist Yu Kosuge, a piano recital by Peter Serkin, and even a revival of last year's Toru Takemitsu Memorial Concert.
